The 2017 Honda Ridgeline has been turning heads ever since it was announced. This compact pickup has been fully redesigned for the new model year, coming back to Honda's lineup after a 2-year break.

The Ridgeline has a built-in trunk underneath the truck bed. It features a flat bottom for easy storage. Perhaps most interesting about this one is that there even is a drain plug so you can fill it up with ice and use it as a cooler.

The look of this vehicle is strong yet sleek, and its presence on the road is solid without being intimidating. Several Honda design features can certainly be seen in the accents.

Some trucks are all work and no play, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the 2017 Ridgeline. The moment you open the door you'll notice the high-quality materials of the interior. The ride is pleasant, so pleasant in fact that you'll forget you're in a truck and not a luxury sedan. There is plenty of cabin room so you can stretch out when you're not moving.

The instrument cluster is easy to read and intuitive, with everything just where it should be. Options like a power moonroof and sliding rear window are available on the 2017 Honda Ridgeline, as well.

Leather upholstery, power front seats and heated front seats are all interior options that make this vehicle even better.

Of course, you'll have plenty of tech to work with in this vehicle as well. A seven-speaker audio system with included USB port and Bluetooth comes standard, as does a push-button start and a 5-inch display.

It's in the area of optional technology that this model really excels, however. You can add an in-bed audio system, perfect for tailgating. Add in an in-bed power outlet and you can hook up a TV to watch other games while you're cooking up dogs on the grill and pulling a cold one out of the Ridgeline's trunk.

Other tech options include an 8-inch touch screen with navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and even Siri Eyes Free.

One of the first things you'll notice when driving the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is just how smooth the ride is. In fact, it's one of the softest rides in its class, with very little in the way of shakiness. The two-wheel drive model has front-wheel drive, while most of its competition is equipped with rear-wheel drive.

You can also get this model in an all-wheel drive configuration. Even with the AWD, the 2017 Ridgeline provides you with a highly stable and composed ride.

The base engine for this vehicle is a V6, again standing out from the competition which typically start with a four-cylinder. You'll get a respectable 19 mpg in the city, and 26 mpg on the highway.

The 2017 Ridgeline comes standard with a rearview camera, as well as several other standard safety features. You'll also get rear parking sensors as an available option, and front parking sensors are available as an option on most trim levels. The advanced Honda LaneWatch blind spot camera system is available, and comes standard on the RTL-T trim level.

The two trim levels with the highest number of safety features are the RTL-E as well as the Black Edition. These two models have some of the most advanced safety tools available in the compact pickup segment. You'll get a rear cross traffic alert, collision mitigation breaking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane departure and lake keeping systems, as well as road departure mitigation.
